Haiti Medical Mission: day 12
Day 12- Saturday march 27th
Today is a quiet day and I kind of miss my kids. I will try to go online and catch my daughter but the satellite connection has been bad for the last days.
We had a great presentation from Brad the director of Mission of Hope as he explained how he moved here with his wife, Vanessa and his family and how the mission has grown since the earthquake. It is amazing to see, for example, how the mission has changed and improved in the last two weeks that I have been here.
They were also explaining their vision of the orphanage that now hosts 70 children. These children are not for adoption as Mission of Hope wants them to be raised in Haiti and educated and become to be active Haitian citizens. Some of the staff members are children that grew in the orphanage.
In their incoming projects, they are planning to offer a prosthetic limb clinic to people who lost a member in the quake. They also have part of their organisation that serves meals to children in their school and distribute food. They have many many projects like building more schools, a bigger guest house (for the increasing number of volunteers), another orphanage, etc, etc.
