Haiti Medical Mission: Day 9
Day 9- Wednesday march 24th
I saw a patient that was six months pregnant and had pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure). Dr Ashley enjoyed transferring the patient and seeing Port-au-Prince. I saw a cute 12 year old girl who explained to me how she was in her house when she felt a tremor and ran out of her house and then her house collapsed on her mother, the cook, their maid and their driver. The last words her mother said “Marie-Andrée, Marie-Andrée” as she was calling her daughter’s name to make sure she was safe.
I also saw a baby that was very deep asleep and had a fever. I gave the mother her prescription and told her to wait until her child woke-up to see if he was alert and fine. She left without waiting but you can see here the child before he left. Was it just sleep??
